Bob Recine Alchemy of beauty
Renè Ricard
Damiani edizioni
Bob Recine is a creative and futuristic master of hairstyle loved by the trendiest designers.
With an endless imagination his creations are true wearable sculptures. He takes a head of hair transforming it into voluminous clouds, flowing paint or a shower of flowers. With the help of plastic accessories he creates funny cartoon-effect hairpieces. Now he is the protagonist of the book Alchemy Of Beauty, published by Damiani, that with words of René Ricard and a selection of Recine’s favorite editorial collaborations by photographer Mario Sorrenti, talks about the story, creations and world of this hairstyling creative.

“I grew up in New York City: living in the Big Apple allowed me to soak up all inspirations. The idea of beauty was something that I was very attracted to, it was very fascinating to me,” he explains.
He had never thought about the world of fashion until he created installations with avant-garde hats for the Henri Bendel window shops that had caught the eye of a worldwide famous hairdresser: Jean Louis David. He offered him the chance to go to Paris and learn to be an hairstylist. “I learned how to use hair as a raw material to style, on which to work on,” he explains. He achieved success immediately conquering the covers of fashion magazines and the hearts of Oscar-winners such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman and Tilda Swinton.
About the secret of his success he says: “I let myself be inspired by anyone or anything that passes on to me honesty and an instinctive idea of beauty. I’m always seeking for new forms of beauty.”
