My Weekly Notebook: Exhibitions

Un secolo di straordinarie fotografie di moda dagli archivi Condé Nast.

Until April 7 - 2013
Spazio Forma Galleria
Piazza Tito Lucrezio Caro 1
20136 Milano

The exhibition ‘Fashion’ at Spazio Forma in Milan is an inspiring plunge into the past, even with contemporary images. Edward Steichen was one of the first photographer to shoot for Vogue, accepting the challenge and not worrying about those who accused him of selling out to fashion. Much has changed and today fashion photography has nothing to prove. Thanks to the talent and skill of its representatives, it has become an artistic language of formidable strength and visual influence.
This emotional exhibition brings together an extraordinary selection of images from Condé Nast archives in New York, Paris, London, and Milan, marking a unique occasion to tell the history of fashion photography from its origins to the present day. In addition to shots by forefathers like Cecil Beaton, Man Ray, Edward Steichen, and Horst P. Horst, the exhibit will include works by Helmut Newton, Mario Testino, Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Tim Walker, Erwin Blumenfeld, David Bailey, Guy Bourdin, Sølve Sundsbø, and many more.

“Punk: Chaos to Couture”
from May 9 to August 14 - 2013
Metropolitan Museum of Art NY

The exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art  will examine punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today.
Original punk garments from the mid-1970s will be juxtaposed with recent, directional fashion to illustrate how haute couture and ready-to-wear have borrowed punk’s visual symbols, with paillettes being replaced with safety pins, feathers with razor blades, and bugle beads with studs.
